I arrived in Ocean City around 12:30am Saturday morning. I unloaded my bags with Justin Berk, then hit the street to get some content for WeatherBug.
As expected, lots of business were boarded up in preparation for Hurricane Irene. Som people were more creative than others when it came to marking their terrority.
What surprised me however was the lack of people in the city. And by lack, I mean NO people (beside many patrolling cops). I drove around for about an hour and didn’t see a single vacationer or resident.
There has been a mandatory evacuation for Ocean City since 5pm yesterday, yet I still expected to see some hipster that doesn’t want to be told what to do by “the MAHHHNNNN” and old people who “survived Hurricane (insert name here). I didn’t see anyone.
It was very eery; almost like a zombie apocalypse in fancy resort town.
I have a LONG day tomorrow, starting with a phone interview with KVUE in Austin. Wish me luck!
PS – I truly appreciate the friends and family who have checked in on me. I am safe (right now).
