Update: Greatest News I Heard All Day

Previously I wrote how excited I am that there was a new Bourne movie in the pipeline (and by previous, I mean 3 years, 2 months, and 6 days or 1163 days total). Well today my excitement has reached a new peak.

Today the trailer for Bourne Legacy was released. It looks as exciting and action packed as the previous three flicks, but with one notable exception: no Matt Damon. Yes, Jason Bourne won’t even be in the Bourne Legacy. Jeremy Renner is now the leading role. Obviously Renner has been refining his action movie skills with recent roles in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Hurt Locker, The Town, and The Avengers, so I think he’ll do fine as Aaron Cross.

It appears that the story timeline may take place prior to Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatum. The only reason I say that is CIA Director Noah Vosen still appears, and it was all but apparent after Bourne Ultimatum he’d be going to jail.

If I am right about the timeline, I think it is inevitable that in the next film, we’ll get to see Damon and Renner together. THAT would be awesome.

The movie premiers on 3 August. Is it too early to start a countdown?

Editor’s Note: In my research of this post, I found out James Bond Skyfall will be coming out 9 November. I guess I’ll have to rewrite my “Who Would Win: Bond or Bourne” piece.

Mitt Romney: The Conservative Nightmare

Mitt Romney: The Conservative Nightmare

In one week, with yesterday’s 2nd place finish in South Carolina, Mitt Romney went from a projected 3-0 in primaries to a disappointing 1-2. Still, his campaign is probably can be considered the frontrunner.

One thing that is most telling from his South Carolina loss is how true conservatives voted. Newt Gingrich won a huge majority of the conservative votes in what is considered one of the more conservative states in the US. This is great news for Newt; South Carolina has selected the future GOP candidate every year since 1980.

Electing Mitt Romney would be a disaster for strong conservatives. It would leave them without a leader or voice for the next 12-16 years. Think about this, Romney, described by many as a moderate Republican, would serve the next four years and possibly get reelected. After his two terms, the country would seesaw back to the Democratic Party, regardless of who it is running (think Bush in 2000, Obama in 2008). That would leave the Tea Party conservatives without someone in their corner for a LONG time.

I think Romney knows that he needs the conservative AS WELL AS the independent vote. That’s a tough line to walk and is starting to come back to bite him.

With Romney dropping and Gingrich rising, I think we’re in for a LONG primary season. Time to implement my election plan.

I’m A Momma’s Boy

There I said it. I’m a momma’s boy.

Me and my Mom (back in my 'hair' days)

I’ve always been close to my mom. She’s a pretty tough woman having to deal with raise three boys and a girl.

Recently I was asked if I was my mom’s favorite child. While my siblings may disagree, I think my mom does a good job of being impartial. Being the oldest means I mature sooner than the others, so I think my mom does appreciate that.

Just as my mom says she is proud of me, I’m proud of her and dad. They’ve raised two college graduates with the twins’ graduation right around the corner.

One of the best memories I’ve ever had was when my mom, dad, sister and I traveled to Italy for 11 days in 2010. Below is a picture of my mom at Piazzale Michelangelo overlooking Florence and the Arno River.

Mom in Florence

The reason I’m writing this post to thank my mom for the wonderful card she wrote me for my birthday. After I read the card, I smiled. Unrelated to the card, a piece of dust flew in my eye and made me tear up. It wasn’t the card, I swear!

Anyway, thanks Mom and Dad. Love you guys!
