Can The ShamWow Mop Up Your Dignity?

There are reports that the spokeperson for ShamWow and Slap Chop, Vincent Schlomi, has been arrested. Not for soliciting a minor, as I predicted in my previous article. Instead, Mr. S. Wow was arrested for punching a hooker four times in the face.

Smoking Gun reports:

According to an arrest affidavit, Shlomi met Sasha Harris, 26, at a Miama Beach nightclub on February 7 and subsequently retired with her to his $750 room at the lavish Setai hotel. Shlomi told cops he paid Harris about $1000 in cash after she “propositioned him for straight sex.” Shlomi said that when he kissed Harris, she suddenly “bit his tongue and would not let go.” Shlomi then punched Harris several times until she released his tongue.

Apparently Vince went to Miami and was away from all his groupies. I guess he did what any other washed-up infomercial star would do… he hired a hooker.

It seems like a pretty open and shut case until you look at the mugshot.

If you punch a hooker four times for biting your tongue, why do you have injuries that look like you fought Kimbo Slice?

Bail was set at $19.95… but wait!

Shocking Update: A certain nurse friend of mine has brought it to my attention that the ’shirt’ Vince is wearing is actually a hospital gown. The print is called snowflakes. Geeze, this story keeps getting better by the second. Nothing like getting hospitalized from getting your ass kicked by a hooker.

Lots of Updates

I finally started my gig at WeatherBug on Monday. I can already tell this is a great company to work for. They threw me into the fire right away and gave me a pretty important project to work on. I’m creating new HD graphics for KJRH in Tulsa, OK. Lots of work but I know I can handle it.

I also started writing for examiner.com. Check out my page here. I’ll be writing a daily weather summary for CT or whatever else I’d like to comment on. I love getting paid to write. What can be better (or easier)?

4cast4you.com is finally taking off. Joe and I decided to create an actual company, so I will be incorporating that soon. 4cast4you, Inc will be a forecasting powerhouse and bringing in some dough for us.

I really don’t have any free time. I am shocked how much extra work I have outside of work. Oh well… I am really enjoying what I’m doing. Even better that I’m finally getting paid for it.

I’m Finally On Twitter

As the title implies, I’ve finally joined Twitter about a week ago and have yet to totally figure it out. From what I can see, it’s not that hard. Comment on whatever in 140 characters or less. Easy enough, right? What about direct messages and @replies? I don’t understand them. Like everything I don’t totally understand, I am going to play around with it until it sinks in.

The reason that I’m mentioning all this is because Facebook has taken a Twitter feel to it. Anyone else feel that way? Facebook must have been very threatened by Twitter. I saw a recent MSNBC story about how Twitter has no idea how they are going to make money off their product, yet were still able to raise $35 million in private capital.

I have a feeling Twitter is going to be bought by Google. They own everything else right?

4cast4you

Joe Roy and I had a crazy idea less than month ago to start a weather website. We have put in tons of time and energy into the site and the (mostly) finished product is 4cast4you. Any regular visitor to this site knows how much time I’ve been putting into the new site. We have some more work to do over the next couple of days, but for the most part, we are ready to go.

Click on the banner to visit the site or click http://www.4cast4you.com. Any critiques are greatly appreciated. Feel free to comment on the pages or send us email.

Visit often!!

I’m Finally Employed

I just accepted an offer from Automated Weather Service, the makers of Weatherbug software. I’m really excited to start the position. I’ll be working as a liason between Weatherbug and TV stations.

This position is in Germantown, MD so I’ll be living here for a while longer. I’ll have more updates as I get closer to the start day in 10 days. For now though, I’m on vacation :)

Extent Of CT Broadcasting School’s Close

I read of Connecticut Broadcasting School’s close on Facebook when Geoff Fox posted a update. I really didn’t understand the enormity of the situation. I thought that this was a single school with 50 students who no longer could operate. I just came across the story from WJLA - the ABC affiliate in Washington, DC. JLA reports that CT Broadcasting School operated 26 separate campuses in 16 different states. Geeze, I’m kinda shocked I’ve never heard of them.

The worst part of the story is how the students got treated. Apparently an email was sent to the students after finding the all the doors locked.

…said the school is closed. They’ll be no class until further notice [and to] contact the corporate office.

Wow. Some kids were only weeks away from graduation and won’t be able to get their diploma. The tuition was $12,000 and they won’t even get that back!

The school blames the closing on tightening private student loan markets. The school’s lender, Pittsburgh-based PNC Financial, seized control of all the school’s accounts. This rendered the school unable to proceed.

There is no good way to resolve this. I just sat thinking for 10 minutes on how I’d handle this and I didn’t come up with anything. I guess that’s why I’m not a college president.

Website Was Down… Again

My website decide to take a small break this afternoon for about five hours. If you tried to visit during that time, all you got was a simple Error 500 message (wonder what error 1-499 are?). Anyways, I was really ticked because this was the second time in two weeks this happened. Not only can I not access this site, but I also can’t access the site I’ve been spending every waking moment developing.

I called 1and1, who is my server company, around 3:30pm. The first guy I talked to was less than helpful. He seemed like he had better places to be. Needless to say, that call didn’t help anything.

I called back at 5:45pm and talked to Nadine. She was very helpful and explained exactly what she was going to do to fix the site. She said I’d receive an email within 30 minutes regarding the status of the fix.

32 minutes later…

As we monitor your two websites:  jacobwycoff.com and [deleted].com it
is still displaying an Error 500.  We already escalated the case few
minutes ago.
We will get back to you once again via email for further update.

The site finally was back up around 8:45pm. It sounds weird, but while the site was done, I didn’t know what to do with myself. This new site is just so consuming that I get in the zone and lose track of time. We are rolling the site out next Wednesday. Until then, I’ll be working out the bugs.
