Who Did You Meet?

Did you go to high school with Miley Cyrus? Perhaps you were in a movie with Adam Sandler? I’m sure you have a story, and I found a perfect place for you to share it.

A friend of mine recently created a website that is all about people sharing their own stories of celebrity encounters. The site is called CelebShowAndTell. If you want to read of people’s brushes with stars such as Liberace, Sonny Bono, Whoopi Goldberg, or Tim Russert (I got a chance to meet him too…), this is the place to go.

My personal favorite is Jesse’s meeting with Shaquille O’Neal (<–check out the link). Anyway, I encourage all of you to visit the site and share your story about meeting someone famous.

You may even find a story I’ve submitted…

Computer Is Broken

My iBook finally crapped out on me. I think this may be its final stand. I wasn’t able to back up things for a while so I have no clue what I’m losing. I’m posting from my blackberry, and until my computer gets fixed (or I get a new one), I unfortunately have to put this site on hold.

My friend Joe Roy may be filling in and posting some things on here from time to time, so enjoy!

Sham Wow Guy Strikes Again

Here we go again. I just saw a commericial for the Slap Chop, a kitchen tool that is similar to Magic Bullet but without electric power. You put the food under the chopping blades and you just slap the top. Easy as that. Check out the video.

Have we really gotten that lazy? “I don’t want to take an extra two minutes to chop onions.” This Vince guy (former Scientologist) is getting increasingly more annoying. Will you please sell yourself a muzzle? And what’s with that picture? It wouldn’t suprise me to see you on To Catch A Predator within the next month or so.

Website Was Down

For the past ten hours or so, jacobwycoff.com was out. Fine I figured, I’d just do some more work on a developmental website I’m working on with Joe Roy. About halfway through the installation, I get the same error. I’m not a happy camper at this point. I did all the troubleshooting I could do, but nothing was doing the trick. I finally caved and called 1and1 (my website server host) for some technical support.

I spoke with a nice man named Froilan Tayong. He said there weren’t any problems on my end and he’d double check the servers (which I think are located in Germany). Regardless, he said it’d take an hour to run through diagnostic tests. Once again, I was fine with it, as long as this would solve the problem.

Then I get this email…

This is to further update you about the problem where your site shows an
error 500.  After observing the problem where i was running a fix still
it doesn’t resolved the case.  I came to decide to escalate the case to
the administrator to further continue the process and so that they will
be able to check at the backend server and be able to fix it straight at
the main server.  I do apologize for the inconvenience that this has
caused you.

Dang… my site did come back online until about 9pm. I’d imagine the next few days are going to be spent doing more website development. Joe and I have some big plans, we just have to be patient and take our time. I guarantee this is a site you all will want to visit on a daily basis.

What’s Behind Door #3?

Within the next few days, I’ll be making decisions that have life-changing implications. I don’t want to go into much detail just yet, but I could end up in a different time zone on the other side of the country. I also could be making Maryland my home for awhile.

We’ll see how everything plays out. As always, I’ll keep everyone updated on the job hunt.

Square Root Of Three

So I’m in one of those moods. I’ve written poems in the past and I enjoy memorizing them. I came across this poem called “Square Root of Three” by David Feinberg. Being a bit of a math geek, this poem really speaks to me. Hope you enjoy it.

Square Root of Three

I fear that I will always be
A lonely number like root three

A three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath a vicious square root sign,
I wish instead I were a nine

For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic

I know I’ll never see the sum, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality
When, ark! so what is that I see,
Another square root of a three

Has quietly come waltzing by,
Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer

We break free from our mortal bonds
And with a wave of magic wands
Our square root signs become unglued
And love for me has been renewed.

$19.95… But Wait!

Last night I found myself watching the annoying Sham Wow! guy on TV. He is unbearable. Even through all my anger, I did find a few ‘inconsistancies’ in the commercial.

First, at :38, notice how when he pours the soda (or pop where I’m from) into the carpet, it seeps out the bottom. That’s quite a mess! Scene cuts to a new piece of carpet where it’s not longer soaking out of the carpet. He even says, “Let’s do this in real-time!” Too bad you cleaned it up between takes!!!

Secondly, at 1:25, there is a clear cut of audio when he puts the Sham Wow in front of his face. Listen closely, you’ll catch it. The most annoying part to every infomercial is at the end.

BUT WAIT… if you order within the next five minutes, we’ll double you’re order FOR FREE! That’s a $19.95 offer for nothing!

Is anyone really believing that? Is there someone that is saying, “Bill, get off that phone. We only have four minutes left to order those towel things”?

Either way, I’ll stick to my soft cotton towels. Can you imagine a bathrobe of Sham Wow? It’s almost as bad as a Snuggie.
